Renewable energy is among the best power supply in different parts of the globe. It is grouped into different sections depending on production. These groups which include solar, wind, tidal, hydro, and biomass are applied in the daily activities of citizens. However, there are various issues noticed to be facing this energy produced. To know the worst kind of renewable energy, it is essential to conduct a detailed analysis of each, as they all operate differently. All are endless, meaning that they can be used more than once and with no limitation.
Solar energy, which happens to be abundant and easily available compared to others is generated directly from the sun. Plenty of power can be made within a short period due to its high intensity. On looking at the negative side, it is affected by factors such as time and location. Such issues can widely affect the overall output hence bringing in the problem of not being reliable sometimes. There are seasons in which solar cannot be easily tapped such as winter. During winter, the sun may disappear for a long period causing problems to regions that depend on it.
Wind is a useful source whose contribution cannot be ignored in addressing matters of the national grid. Feeding electricity into the national grid requires a vast use of generators driven by turbines. This seems a simple process but it consumes a wide space that could be used in conducting other economic activities that may yield more income. Another problem lies in the regulation of power provided which is not easy to handle. A high voltage that can be difficult to manage and partition is produced making the consumers have a rough time. The only people who find wind power useful are those who require high voltage when conducting their activities.
Hydro energy can be rated the top in the production list due to its popularity in different parts of the globe. Such a stance makes this energy vulnerable to issues as the applications are wide. A dam is built across a river with a huge volume of water to rotate a group of turbines aligned which in turn generate power. On the negative side, disruption of rivers can harm the environment. Consequently, people’s lives are harmed making hydro a poor alternative to consider. Building dams and buying turbines needed for a successful generation of electricity is costly.
Tidal energy is rare as generation is done in specific places especially those close to large water bodies such as oceans. Before indulging in the required activities, predictions are made on the date, time, and location. All these data are useful because strong tides take place rarely therefore need to be predicted for necessary preparation to be done. Reliability, a key element of energy is not obtained as these tides may take a long period to occur. Consequently, people who depend on it will experience some inconvenience during such times. Sometimes there might be tides, but with low currents that cannot easily rotate turbines to generate electricity.
